SUMMERVELD EQUINE HOSPITAL is situated on 80 acres in the picturesque area of Summerveld, the hub of KWAZULU NATAL racing. We have been serving our clients and their horses (and other domestic and farm animals) with the best veterinary care since 1969. DR KATZWINKEL and his team of veterinarians, nurse and staff, provide the highest of MEDICAL and SURGICAL care possible.
SUMMERVELD EQUINE HOSPITAL is a full service centre, providing 24 hour emergency service, and has in-house patient facilities for 20 horses.
The veterinary professionals employed by SUMMERVELD EQUINE HOSPITAL provide veterinary care covering a large area of KZN, including the racing centres of SUMMERVELD and ASHBURTON, both the North and South Coasts of KZN, and inland to Pietermaritzburg, the Midlands and Richmond.
We offer specialised medical and surgical care, preventative care, general reproduction, in house laboratory and diagnostic imaging, advanced endoscopic examinations including overland exercise scopes and gastroscopes.
Surgeries include orthopaedic, ophthalmic, upper airway and abdominal surgeries. Medical cases and lameness investigations make up a large part of the work done at the hospital. Modern state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment is used extensively in the hospital and in the field.
